CHICAGO, IL (May 19, 2020) – After hosting almost a dozen interviews of qualified applicants from around the country, the Midwest Rugby Football Union is pleased to announce the hiring of Bill Marnell as the new Union Administrator.
Marnell will collaborate with the Union’s Board of Directors to implement membership outreach initiatives, content creation, oversight of social media channels, and support disciplinary and compliance monitoring.
Please join us in welcoming Bill to his new role with the Union. His official start date is May 26, 2020.
Bill began his rugby career while attending California University of PA to earn an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Justice Studies. He served in several administrative roles for his collegiate club before becoming the President of the Westmoreland/ Pittsburgh Highlanders from 2012 – 2017. During this time Bill also began administrating in several regional organizations including the Allegheny Rugby Union, the Allegheny Rugby Referee Society, the Midwest Territorial Union, and USA Rugby.
Currently, Bill serves as the President of the Pittsburgh Forge Rugby Club where he still gets to step onto the field from time to time. He is also serves the rugby community as a certified referee and a Level 200 Coach. Bill lives in suburban Pittsburgh with his wife and two children while working as a full-time as an Investigations Officer for a local financial institution specializing in fraud examination and enterprise risk management.
