CHICAGO, IL – As previously reported, Midwest President Al Lucas is currently serving as the Senior Club Community interim-Director on the USA Rugby Board of Directors and the Midwest Vice President of Compliance and Discipline Megan Braun, was selected to serve as the chairperson of the Senior Club Council Discipline Committee and also on the Council’s Executive Committee. Joining them at the Senior Club Community Level will be several members of the Midwest chosen to serve on several of the Senior Club Councils standing committees.
The Midwest has two representatives serving, but still waiting to be confirmed, on the Audit & Risk Committee chaired by Senior Club Council Treasurer Jill Williamson. Midwest Administrator Bill Marnell and Michigan RFU Treasurer Tim Crowley will bring their accounting, auditing, and risk management skills to ensure that both USA Rugby and the Senior Club Council are operating in a fiscally responsible manner for the membership.
Midwest Vice President of Competition, Gary Lobaugh, has been selected to serve on the Senior Club Council’s Competition Committee chaired by former USA Rugby Club Manager Eric Geib. This will be a familiar role for Gary, who served for a number of years on USA Rugby’s National Competitions Committee which also managed club competitions for the entire country. This group will similarly manage Senior Club Competitions between Competitive Regions including potentially All-Star events and National or Regional Championship Events.
Milwaukee native Margaret Nedow will join Megan Braun on the Senior Club Council’s Discipline Committee who will focus on implementing national discipline codes and enforcing cross-competitive region disciplinary issues and appeals. Darryl Sanders from Minneapolis will bring his skillset to the Club Council’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee chaired by Nichole Reiske. Dawn McKenzie, the Midwest’s Women’s 7’s coordinator will serve under chair Tammy Breckenridge on the Club Council’s Eligibility Committee. Dawn is a Chicago native, who assists the Union as a referee education and has played for the Women’s Premier League.
The Midwest does not have representation on the Club Council’s Governance or Training & Education Committees, however, former Midwest Congress Representative Matthew Doss is serving on the USA Rugby Nominations Committee which is responsible for vetting and recommending external directors to serve on the USA Rugby Board of Directors.
